HISTORY OF THE INTERNET OF THINGS

     The history of the internet of things, a term that we have started to hear frequently recently, actually dates back a long time. This concept is integrated into our daily life as a concept that we have started to hear and can continue to hear recently. The introduction of the Internet to life and the acceleration of change in the world have directly affected people's lifestyles. Internet technologies, which are at the center of all areas of life, will continue to function without the need for humans in the near future through many objects. The concept of the Internet of Things is explanatory at this point.

It all started with a coffee machine!

 Did you know that the need for coffee causes new inventions?

     A group of academics uses a coffee machine together at Cambridge University, where they worked in England in 1991. As they got bored of finding the coffee machine on the upper floor of their workplace empty every time, they designed a system that takes images of the coffee machine three times a minute and transfers these images to their own computers. This coffee machine was the first example of the concept of the “Internet of Things” in practice and proved the existence of connected objects.

Here is that coffee machine;

     The concept of the Internet of Things was first used in 1999 by Kevin Ashton in a presentation prepared for the company Procter & Gambler. In the presentation, the benefits of radio frequency identification technology were explained to the company and its use was suggested. In the following years, thanks to the developing technologies, billions of people were able to connect to the internet with computers or portable mobile devices. After this stage, the expected big step is for computers connected to each other to exchange information with objects connected to each other. Connecting all things/objects that we can think of, from cars to books, from electronics to food, from smart buildings to shoes, is a development that awaits us in the future. The internet of things is likely to change everything as a technology revolution. The reality of connection from anywhere, with anyone, at any time, with any object seems to become the basis of the new world order.
    It is obvious that the internet of things has an important place in our lives and offers very useful inferences. Let's use our strength for good.
