FEW APPLICATIONS OF IOT

      IoT applications use technology to increase our comfort and make our lives easier, and aiming to use less energy while performing a task, and provide great control over our lives whether at home or at work. Today, there are many areas where we can use technology. Have you ever thought about which of these we can use the Internet of Things? The Internet of Things can be used in many different areas. We can list the usage areas and application examples as follows;

       Retail
     By providing full control over the IoT supply chains, it will eliminate the human factor and make it possible to prevent human-induced errors. This will enable business owners to take control of their orders, provide better management of logistics and commercial expenditures, and enable the company to achieve the highest expected efficiency.
One of the new projects of Amazon company, Amazon Go, can be given as an example. A barcode is given to the user from the amazon application you use on your phone. This barcode is scanned on sensors as they enter the market. You get the products you want from the shelves. The product you buy is detected by sensors and added to your cart immediately. After you finish your shopping, you can leave the market without waiting in line at the cash register. The payment is withdrawn from the card linked to the Amazon account. This project is currently operating in multiple locations, specifically Seattle and Washington. It is planned to be established in many more cities in the coming years.

        Smart Homes
      An important contribution of the Internet of Things will be to our homes. Smart devices, lighting, security, and environmental controls will contribute to making our lives easier. In the coming years, we will be able to control many electronic devices in our homes from our smartphones. E.g; By sending directives/orders from our phone to the combi boiler, we will be able to adjust the temperature of our home and also be able to interfere with the camera systems. Such situations will add many positive effects to the functioning of human life.
For example, smart thermostats produced by Nest company can be given. With the built-in thermostat application, you can control it wherever you are. In addition to this feature, the device also has a self-learning feature. For example, if you have set a low temperature continuously at night for 1 week, the device detects this and lowers the temperature at night until you give new instructions. This function makes a great contribution to energy saving.

         Health
        IoT devices allow us to access some data that will help us stay healthy. For example, it can monitor and conclude many activities such as heart rate, calorie intake, sleep. The devices used for these situations can directly inform our doctor in case of a negative situation. In this way, with timely diagnosis, health problems can be prevented and their worsening can be prevented.
Mimo Monitors produced by Mimo company can be given as an example. These devices are famous for being affordable as well as being versatile. Thanks to this technology, you can see your baby's body position, breathing level, body temperature and see the negative situations as a notification on your mobile phone instantly.

         Automotive
      Thanks to the Internet of Things applications, you can open and close your vehicle's doors, take engine measurements, activate the alarm system, access the vehicle's location, and set its route.
For example, vehicles produced by Tesla company can be given. Tesla leads the world in this regard. Imagine that your car opens the garage door before it comes to your house. Imagine that you can remotely control the temperature, lights, charge of the vehicle. Imagine all this with an app you install on your phone. Yes, this is possible.

           Logistics
        With the smart devices attached to the products being transported, you can track their location, speed, and even shipping or storage conditions.
For example, DHL is a global company that provides transportation, storage, distribution, and supply chain management all over the world. In order to do all of these, a very important level of effective communication is needed. DHL actively does and has to do vehicle tracking and maintenance, real-time tracking of packages. At the same time, it actively uses the internet of things to collect information about the sensors and vehicles in the transport vehicles and to take security measures in order to facilitate and effectively carry out all operations. In this way, it can keep the logistics and transportation efficiency at a high level, and thus, the quality of the company increases and it helps to keep the company in a preferable position.

      Apart from these, of course, the internet of things can be used in many areas. It is possible to see this concept wherever there is the internet.  We can list many other topics such as manufacturing, medical health systems, media, environmental monitoring, infrastructure management, energy management, the better quality of life for the elderly...
